The Benefits of Diesel

Diesel fuel is one of the most efficient fuels on the planet. Less processed than traditional gasoline, diesel has a notably high energy density. Simply put, a gallon of diesel fuel goes a longer way than a gallon of most other fuels, including gasoline.

Diesel’s high energy density, coupled with the efficiency of compression-ignition diesel engines, contribute to substantially better mileage over gasoline vehicles, resulting in fewer trips to the pump and reduced emissions.

The emissions produced by diesel vehicles contain meaningfully less carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons than traditional gasoline vehicle emissions.

Key Facts

NITROGEN OXIDES

All our vehicles feature advanced Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) exhaust after-treatment (i.e. Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)) which helps to reduce NOX emissions.

DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTERS

Highly efficient DPFs (Diesel Particulate Filters) in our vehicles capture exhaust particulate matter (also known as soot).

WHAT IS DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF)?

DEF, also known as AdBlue® or Urea, is a non-toxic, colorless, odorless and non-flammable fluid. Stored in a dedicated tank in your car, DEF is injected into the exhaust system to clean exhaust gases. Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology is fitted to all Land Rover diesel vehicles from the 2016 model year. It enables Land Rover to meet local emissions legislation by reducing the levels of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emitted from the exhaust system by up to 90%. In addition to a new generation of catalytic converter, SCR Technology requires the use of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF).

What Kind of Driver Are You?

INTER CITY

For high-mileage drivers predominantly taking longer journeys on the highway and rarely travelling within the city, a diesel engine would be a considered option.

TOWN AND COUNTRY

For those living outside the city, but regularly commuting by highway, a diesel engine would be suitable for consideration.

PLEASURE DRIVE

If you love driving mainly for pleasure on country roads and rarely in urban environments, then either a diesel or gas would suit you.
